Aparthotel Whitworth Locke pays homage to Manchester’s Civic Quarter in a unique cotton mill conversion.

Whitworth Locke is a cosy cotton mill conversion aparthotel and co-working space by Locke Living. Thoughtfully designed to reflect Manchester’s industrial heritage, this short and long term stay destination offers a glimpse into the future of city-centre hotels.

Positioned in the heart of the city, between Manchester’s Oxford Road and the iconic Canal Street, guests are able to easily explore the busy and vibrant streets and industrial canals nearby.

Referred to as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester’s history reflects back in the grand 19th Century buildings of Civic Quarter. In keeping with the city’s industrial past, each of Whitworth Locke’s 160 apartments have been individually designed to echo the building’s historical features - with Atkinson and Kirby’s characterful Ness Smoked Oak Flooring contributing to the aesthetic beautifully.

Laid in a traditional parquet finish, Atkinson and Kirby’s Ness Smoked Oak adds warmth while also being sympathetic to the building’s periodic design attributes through a laddered pattern, which calls to the historic past of the cotton mill.

Elsewhere, the original factory windows remain in place, creating a contemporary warehouse-style look in each room. And while every apartment is unique, they are all united by a signature Locke approach; a rich and soothing earthy colour palette and comfortable furniture that makes guests feel instantly welcomed and relaxed on arrival.
