Future Icons Selects returns to London Craft Week 2024.

The highly anticipated return of Future Icons Selects to the London Craft Week 2024 calendar will take place between 15 – 19 May.

Highlighting the work of over 50 artists from a multitude of craft disciplines and spanning multiple continents, Future Icons Selects will take over the Oxo Tower Wharf’s industrial Bargehouse again after its standout debut in 2023. Its mission is to highlight working artisans, create a platform for them to sustainably grow their businesses and help keep important craft skills alive.

Welcoming a range of visitors including interior designers and architects, the vast material exploration from the showcasing artists is intricate and experimental - a wonderful mixture for designers and architects to truly immerse themselves in contemporary craft materiality.

On the 2024 edition, Louisa Pacifico, founder and creative director of Future Icons Selects, comments, “For 2024, expect to discover new artisans from across the globe, showcasing the latest developments in materials and processes which sets the scene for a showcase of colourful, textural interior works. From glass to ceramics, furniture to metalwork, and everything in between, our visitors won’t be disappointed by the new works on offer this spring.”

Christopher Kelly

Exclusive for Future Icons Selects 2024, British sculptor Christopher Kelly has been commissioned to create a bespoke creation to be exhibited. “Dis/Functional” will be the second chapter of his “Interwoven: Neurodiversity” project that merges the intricate facets of neurodiversity with the craftsmanship of artistry. The hanging sculptures will be created using natural jute twine, fusing elements of crochet, macrame and weave that envelop intentionally sourced discarded furniture pieces.

Joshua Aubrook

London-based British ceramicist, Joshua Aubrook, specialises in clay casting, sculpting and glaze development. Aubrook is inspired by the art and theology of mediaeval Europe. Centring idealism over realistic depiction in his form, Aubrook creates ceramic artworks which explore how the themes of faith, truth and paradise are addressed creatively from the 12th century to the modern day.

Kamea Devons and Adam Salvi

Kamea Devons is a designer based between London and Tel Aviv. He explores the space between design, culture, craft and technology in his work. Working with Adam Salvi, a friend and a skilled glassblower who explores the tension between the one-off and the industrialised, they have developed a unique language for integrating technologies in glass.

Olga Prinku

Olga Prinku is an embroidery artist hailing from Moldova, and now living in Yorkshire, who uses real organic material as her thread. “Woven Landscape” is a series of large-scale botanical tapestries creating a colourful abstract floral canvas inspired by rolling meadows.

Jordan Keaney

Jordan Keaney is a furniture and homeware designer based in London. He was the Runner Up for the 2023 Design Miami Neighbourhood Commission. Using his background in product design, he applies his exciting signature style of colour and texture to his pieces, walking the fine line between sculptural and functional. Keaney will be launching his new “Slab” table range at Future Icons Selects 2024.

Joanne Lamb is an Irish artist based in London creating unique vessels combining textiles with basketry. Driven by the desire to connect with the beauty of nature, by tuning into the seasons she aims to communicate what the planet has given us, inspiring a deeper appreciation of the natural world.

New to the craft scene, Sophie Ambelas draws on her Greek heritage for her creations which mix media and finishes that go beyond traditional pottery. Each piece blends the ancient and futuristic and produces a fluidity, as though they are moving and constantly developing, just as people are.
