Modus has crafted a new, very fitting workplace for software company, Bentley Systems, where technology and innovation take centre stage.

Located on the 43rd floor of the newly built 8 Bishopsgate, Modus' aim was to offer an "exciting glimpse into the future of experiential workplace design". A key part of this was exposing the stunning, dramatic backdrop of London’s skyline - visible through giant floor-to-ceiling windows.

In addition, sustainability was prioritised throughout. From energy-efficient lighting to sustainable flooring. As a B Corp company, Modus has woven Bentley's commitment to a sustainable future into the very fabric of this space. Qflow tracking tools were used to minimise waste, ensuring transparency and accountability.

In terms of zoning, the workspace seeks to tell a story of "seamless integration", where the experience studio and town hall join together to flex, creating a dynamic, multifaceted setting that's adaptable to the changing needs of its users. A folding wall supports this, and an immersive experience is formed through a 7.3-metre floor-to-ceiling LED screen and enveloping surround system, captivating the senses.

Another stand-out feature of the space is a cocktail bar, which, by day, allows for informal brainstorming. And, by night, transforms into an elegant setting fit for dining. Each element of interior design has been selected to emulate the luxury and refinement that Bentley Systems embodies. Though the exposed ceiling, with its bold red piping, is a nod to the rawness of engineering, a homage to the craft that Bentley so passionately represents.

This unique project had dual aims - looking to develop both Bentley Systems' physical workspace, and its attitude to work. We think it's safe to say that the outcome has done just this.
